Normet boosts production capacity
Normet has recently boosted assembly capacity at its Iisalmi plant by 30% and expects to add another 25% in the near future. Employment at the site is set to rise again later this year when the Finnish specialist in mining and tunnelling processes commissions a new technology centre there.
Despite the difficult economic climate last year, Normet says that it had a successful 2009, although turnover was down on the best-ever figure booked in 2008. The company established new sales and service companies in Indonesia and Canada, a representative office for the ASEAN market in Singapore, and branch offices in Peru and India – India, in fact, was the second-largest market area for Normet equipment.
The first half of this year has seen a considerable increase in order intake, and the company expects to book higher sales overall compared to 2009, driven by a strengthening market for mining machinery and healthy underground construction sales.
Normet develops, manufactures, and markets equipment and vehicles for mining and underground construction, and provides services covering the maintenance and usage of its products over their entire lifetime. The company is a global market leader in its business and operates from 25 locations worldwide.
