Water brings Outotec and Kemira together

Outotec and Kemira recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement to promote their activities in minerals and oil sands processing and associated industrial water treatment solutions.

The arrangement is designed to offer customers in these fields with greater opportunities for improving their cost efficiency, sustainability, and quality by leveraging Outotec's expertise in minerals and oil sands processing technology and Kemira's know-how in water chemistry and related applications. It will also draw on the research efforts of SWEET, the Center of Water Efficiency Excellence, which Kemira established with VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland earlier this year.

Outotec believes it will be able to offer new valued-added technologies and services by building on its existing know-how in water treatment for minerals processing and metallurgical applications; while Kemira is looking to grow and expand its presence in the mining and oil sands processing fields.

Water is becoming an increasingly critical resource, particularly in those parts of the world that are seeing the highest rates of industrial and population growth.
