Oilon and Scancool join forces
Environmental and energy technology company Oilon recently acquired Scancool, a Finnish-based industrial cooling and heat pump expert. Scancool, which has been Finland’s leading expert in cooling technology for more than 25 years, will continue under its own name as an Oilon subsidiary.
The acquisition will strengthen Oilon’s position in the heat pump business and enable Oilon to offer solutions for both domestic and industrial needs from now on. The combined business will also be better-placed to develop the cooling business and expand into new markets, in Asia and Russia, for example, where Oilon already has a strong position.
Scancool’s cooling and heat pump technology enables waste heat to be recovered from numerous industrial processes very efficiently and recycled for industrial use or district heating – and Oilon believes that there is extensive potential for these products among its existing global customers.
Oilon has been steadily developing its sustainable energy offering, and with the addition of Scancool’s technology will now be able to increase the capacity of its domestic heat pumps from 100 kW to several megawatts. This will further strengthen the company’s overall portfolio, which includes burners and solar heat collectors for domestic heating and large burners for power plants, industrial processes, hazardous waste incineration plants, district heating plants, and marine boiler use.
